Learning for children who are Self Isolating – Rowan Class (Year 5)

Maths – White Rose maths .  They will be uploading a new focus of work every week which follows our curriculum in school, so make sure you have a look once a week!

As always, you can keep practising your times tables with TT Rockstars (you need to know all of your times tables before year 6!) and can also check out Hit The Button, a great website which challenges you on your number bonds.

English – Please have a go at completing Talk For Writing’s ‘The Game.’  This is inspired by ‘Jumanji’ and focuses on “finding tales” as plots.

Extra Challenge! – If you want to, you can even check out the original 1995 movie ‘Jumanji’ on Netflix (PG rating; you must ask an adult first before using Netflix!) and write a film review! Can you explain the plot, the characters, what you like and dislike, how the director might’ve improved it, and who it would be best for?

Keep on working on Lexia and Nessy if you have them. I’ll also be adding new spellings to Spelling Shed so try to practise. I have also made a glossary bank of year 5 and 6 words you should know how to spell before the end of year 6. Have a go at trying to learn some of these spellings, and you can look up and note down their meaning if they’re new to you.

English also includes READING! Please make sure you are reading EVERY SINGLE DAY as this is the best way to improve your writing skills, imagination and understanding of grammar, punctuation and spelling. I’ll be checking home reading diaries when I next see you so make sure you’re doing it, and that you’re quizzing on Accelerated Reader when you can!

Science – If you can, try to do some more research on space. These Paxi videos will give you some useful information. You can make a poster or a power point on your findings if you’d like.

Art – If you would like to, you could continue our artwork looking at flowers. Have a go at recreating our lesson where we carefully sketched out flowers – you could even try to sketch a whole plant or outdoor space that you can see easily!

MFL – Finally, if you would like to practise some French, check out BBC Bitesize. If anyone wants to try and learn some German too, I’ll be really impressed! (We don’t need to learn German for any reason, I just really miss speaking it and thought it would be fun to see how you all do!).

Talk for Writing Resources will be updated every 2 weeks.

White Rose Maths will update their videos and activity sheets weekly.
