Curriculum – Computing

Intent

We aim to provide our pupils with a quality computing education that will equip them with the skills to adapt to a changing world and prepare them for the future. We want all our pupils to be digitally literate and be able to express themselves and develop their ideas using computing technology. Children will be able to both understand and apply the fundamental principles of Computer Science and, through related practical experiences, they will be resilient and competent in analysing and solving problems. They will become safe, responsible and confident users of information and communication technology.

Implementation

The Computing Curriculum is taught through three strands:

  • Information Technology
  • Online Safety and Digital Literacy
  • Computer Science.

Teaching staff have had training, support from the Computing Lead and opportunities to work with Local Authority Computing Advisors to enable them to teach quality lessons with high expectations of pupil achievement.
